I just love nature.
I think maybe I could be a bit redundant on it – I could talk for days without a break just on my appreciation of its beauty and marvels.
The landscapes are where I can retreat into becoming one with myself and bonding with the environment.
Where I can be still and listening, so I can hear birds, rustling leaves, and streaming water in a creek.
Where I can see deer gracefully traipse along the edges of a wooded area, and watch butterflies frolic around a favorite bush (and around me!).
It’s not an escape – it’s a uniting.
We talk about ‘disconnecting’ when we want to get away from the hustle and bustle, but for me it’s reconnecting with the real energy and elements within myself and within nature’s beautiful bounty.
I learned to appreciate nature as its own huge and infinite entity, having its peculiar and profound impact on me, and how all of life on this earth is interwoven, if I (we) just “listen” and just “be.”
As a kid, one of the most fun things to do during the summer evenings was to catch lightning bugs.
(Fireflies for some of you!)
Us kids would get a mason jar, poke holes in the top of the lid, and run around catching as many as we could.
Within about 30 minutes we’d have the mason jar crammed with the little glowing bugs, and we’d set it on a table and just watch.
How fascinating to get close and see the kind of Christmas-like display, and what little miracles of nature they were to be able to glow like they did!
How on earth do they glow like that without batteries???!
One time a daddy long-leg spider managed its way in there.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a group of kids scream and run like wildfire like we did in that moment!
And the horror at the thought that one of us might have put it in there ourselves by accident…gives me the willies right now!
We’d also pick the wild black raspberries that grew all along the perimeter of my Gram and Pap’s property.
Gram would make raspberry rolls and cakes out of them.
We actually fought off birds for these berries!
And throughout I learned about appreciating how all the elements of nature can just “be” and thrive – and also about respecting the “being” and staying careful not to tamper with what is.
Like the lightning bugs – they don’t realize how special they are just by BEING what they are.
They just know that’s what they are, and it’s a natural biological element.

YOU have an inner glow.
You have an elemental glow that shimmers brightly inside you, yearning to be allowed to shine.
Here’s how to give your glow permission to light up:
- Sit comfortably in your favorite chair, and lean back.
- Place both of your hands on your stomach.
- Feel the warmth of your tum now warming your hands.
- Now picture inside your tum a faint yellow glow.
- This glow gets brighter and stronger, and you can feel it energize your whole body.
- Feeling the boost of this inner glow, you lift yourself up and flutter out the window.
- You fly over to a child playing with her toys on the grass. She notices you and you glow even brighter. Her face lights up and she smiles and reaches for you, but you play with her just out of her reach. She giggles and delights in your beauty.
- Your glow smiles back as a wave, and then you’re off flying over to a handsome man walking his dog. The dog notices you and barks a hello and wags his tail. The man leans back a little bit as you glow near his gorgeous eyes. You hover back and shine brightly. He leans forward and reaches out to you, his eyes glittering in your light with a smile to match. You frolic daintily around his hand without landing, still glowing and luminous, then you flutter off. He runs after you with his dog to keep up with your radiant self.
- You glow a smile and a wave to him, and you’re off soaring over to a woman sitting in the corner of her room, where the lights are off. You bring extra glow from yourself and hover softly in front of her face. She notices your light and looks up at you. You know her story, and you know she needs your elemental glow. You shine bright for her, your glow creating a beautiful illumination on her face. She looks at you deeply and thoughtfully, and your light sees right through her eyes and into her soul. Her past and her present fill you and you glow even brighter, filled with love for her and everything she is. She cautiously lifts one of her fingers and you gently float down to rest on it. As soon as you alight on the tip of her finger, she is filled with the energy from your elemental glow, and now she too shines as bright as you.
And this is just ONE trail on your horizon. There are MANY more!
